TIPS AND ADVICE:

I wanted this chapter to be as thorough as possible, in order for my site not to be a commercial link to sell my puppies. That way dog lovers, customers or not, can find helpful advice.

• Grooming

Very quickly, accustom your puppy to grooming. He will appreciate this special time where you're pampering him.

The first grooming sessions shouldn't be too long, teach him to stay put. You should put him on a table specially dedicated to grooming, very stable with a non-slippery surface, this will be better for your back, and your dog being at eye level will feel more secure. Be careful, like a baby on a changing table; always keep a hand on your puppy to prevent him from falling. Grooming your dog once a week is enough if you do it correctly, you should use a metallic comb and untangle your dog strand by strand from root to end. If you only brush him superficially he will be full of knots which will then become out of control. To finish the grooming session you can spray some mink or jojoba oil for nourishing his coat and leave a nice smell.

Bathing your dog is very good for him (contrary to popular beliefs), use a special dog shampoo, as hair shampoo is not adequate and could damage his coat.

While you groom him make sure he has no flees, tics, irritations or wounds. Clean his ears and check his teeth; your dog will loose his teeth around 4 to 6 months, as an adult check him for tartar.
